Dynamic due dates allow you to configure tasks to be due based on a dynamic action or event. For example, you can configure Task 2 to be due 1 hour after Task 1 is completed.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Date input from previous Task

This type of Dynamic Due Date is triggered from a date that's input into another task.

First, we add a Request Date section to Task 1:

Then, in Task 2, click the Set Task Due After button:

This dialog opens and we configure its fields:

Trigger: A date input section from a specific task

Task: Task 1 (where the date input section is)

Date Input Section: Date: What date should Task 2 be due (the label for the section we added in Task 1)

Then, we create a workflow from this template:

Finally, after choosing a date in the Date Request section in Task 1, we can see that Task 2 is automatically assigned this due date:

Completion of a previous Task

This type of Dynamic Due Date is triggered from the completion of another task.

First, in Task 2, we click the Set Task Due After button:

Next, we set:

Trigger: Completion of a task

Task: Task 1

After 1 Hour: this means Task 2 will be due 1 hour after Task 1 is complete

Then we create a workflow from this template, and complete Task 1. And immediately after Task 1 is completed, Task 2 has a due date set of 1 hour later:

(in this example, Task 1 was completed at 2:35 PM)

Before Workflow's Due Date

Trigger: Before workflow's due date

Before 6 Hours, 15 Minutes: this means Task 3 will be due 6 hours and 15 minutes before the workflow's due date

Then we create a workflow from this template, and set the workflow's due date to June 1 at 12:00 PM. And then we observe that Task 3 is now due June 1 at 5:45 AM (as expected):

Then we create a workflow from this template, and set the workflow's due date to June 1 at 12:00 PM. And then we observe that Task 4 is now due June 1 at 12:05 PM (as expected):
